It has been brought to our attention that AFC Wimbledon Limited appears on a County Court Winding Up List.

For some time we have been in dispute with HMRC about two relatively small amounts totalling about £10,000 when taken together. HMRC said that these were payable while we believe that they are errors arising from an anomaly relating to the reporting processes in our accounting software. For a number of reasons this dispute was taking longer to resolve than we wished and so after speaking to HMRC we paid the two amounts in full, but under protest. We continue to investigate the differences with a view to reclaiming the amounts that we paid.

Some time later we received a letter from HMRC notifying us that action was being taken in connection with the 'debts', which we had already paid. We spoke again to HMRC officials who confirmed that the amounts had been paid and told us that they assumed that a process had been started which was not needed. Until today we understood that this was the end of the matter.

To be clear, there is no debt. We are proud of the fact that we have never been late in our payment of PAYE or VAT. We very much regret that this County Court notice gives a different impression. We will take steps tomorrow to make sure that it is removed from the records as soon as possible.
