Young goalkeeper in Croatia for tournament

Joe Bursik is poised to gain more international honours today with the AFC Wimbledon academy product included in England’s squad for the European Under-17 Championships.

The Three Lions take on Norway at 1.00 pm (televised live on Eurosport) and the pictures in our gallery above show Joe warming up for the big day at an England training camp in Zagreb, Croatia.

Joe, who joined our academy at the age of just nine, was on the bench for the first-team for the away fixture at Swindon Town last month.

He gained his first taste of international football in March, keeping a clean sheet in a 4-0 win against Slovenia.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, England Under-17s Head Coach Steve Cooper said: “My message to the players is to make the most of the opportunity. There’s everything to play for and nothing to fear.

You might only get one crack at playing in a tournament like this so it’s about recognising that opportunity and getting ready to enjoy it and give it your all. Enjoy it while it lasts.” “It’s a privilege to be here and an honour to be representing your country in a major tournament.

All at AFC Wimbledon wish Joe good luck in representing England in Croatia.
