Return of the Nerdfighter Conference

26 May 2017

Following the success of last year’s event, the “Con for Awesome” event is set to return to the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Saturday 8 July.

The event is co-organised by the London Nerdfighter Community with the aim of raising money for charity while celebrating the relationship with AFC Wimbledon.

The one-day event will involve special guests, such as club hero Seb Brown, with music and much more.

The Nerdfighter Community has its origins in 2007 when John Green started a YouTube channel called “vlogbrothers“ in a collaboration with his brother Hank. They used video blogs as a way of communicating with each other from different parts of the USA in a project called “Brotherhood 2.0“. The Vlogbrothers have since gained an international fanbase of almost three million YouTube subscribers, collectively known as ‘Nerdfighters’.

This community, whose relationship with AFC Wimbledon started in 2014 when John became a sponsor of the club, has always been involved in charity work. Last year's Con for Awesome managed to raise £675 for a good cause.

The Nerdfighters motto is “Don’t Forget To Be Awesome” and as part of their sponsorship, DFTBA is featured on the back of shorts for our club kit.
