Barry Fuller today revealed that he is on schedule to join in with his team-mates for the start of pre-season training at the end of next month.
Our captain, who has been out since February after injuring his left pectoralis muscle, today visited the specialist for a three-month post-operation check-up and he gave a positive bulletin afterwards to the official website.
“It’s all good,” said Barry. “I have got to go back and see him a few days before pre-season training starts, but hopefully I will get the thumbs up to join in with the rest of the boys on June 26. If not, then it could be just a couple of weeks after that. My recuperation has gone really well and I feel really strong.
“I want to be ready for pre-season and get myself as close to the rest of the boys as I can be in terms of fitness. It was really weird missing about 20 games at the end of last season because I had only missed about four or five previously in four years. I was gutted, but I had the operation, the recuperation is going well, and I can’t wait to be back in a Wimbledon shirt.”
Watch out tomorrow for a more in-depth interview with Barry on the official website.
