Cody seeks elusive FA Cup run

AFC Wimbledon striker remains confident about hitting the goal trail

Striker Cody McDonald has had plenty of good times in his career, but he’s hoping that Saturday’s victory sparks an elusive FA Cup run.

“It’s always exciting to be into the next round,” said Cody after the Dons saw off last season’s quarter-finalists Lincoln City 1-0 at the weekend.

“Obviously the big teams don’t come into it until the third round, but it’s always nice to get into the second round. I haven’t had too many nice cup runs, so it would be great before my career is out and if I could do that this season that would be perfect.”

Cody spoke to us after an impressive individual performance and the full interview can now be seen below, via a link to our official club YouTube channel.

Cody has a proven scoring record at this level, but while the goals are yet to flow this season he remains positive about making a significant contribution up front.

“It’s been a little frustrating for me, I can score – by the way!” he joked.

“As long as we’re winning games – that’s the most important thing. When you’re not winning games, things get highlighted a bit more and there’s that little bit of added pressure on me to score - which I haven’t delivered so far.

“I’m still confident that I will. I think my record does speak for itself. I know that goals will come and I’m getting chances which is a big added bonus, but the main thing is that we won the game.”
