Celebrate AFC Wimbledon Foundation Day at the Oldham match

A showcase of community work initiated by the Foundation in the past 12 months

19 April 2018

Our Foundation will be celebrating its fantastic work in the community by hosting several events at Saturday’s game against Oldham Athletic.

The AFC Wimbledon Foundation Day will showcase the sporting opportunities provided for people of all ages in South West London throughout the past 12 months.

A range of activities pre-match will highlight the work of the Foundation, including a Walking Football exhibition match at the David Weir Athletics Stadium (on the 3G pitches), from 12 noon until 1.30 pm. Dons fans can also pop along for a go at the inflatable shoot-out, where Wimbledon players will be signing autographs, and our Foundation staff will be available to talk about their work. Of course, Haydon the Womble will also be joining in the fun!

As part of the celebration, our Foundation will also welcome participants from schools programmes, Wimbledon Park Development Centre, and disability programmes.  Foundation partners from the Wimbledon Foundation, London Sport, Southfields Academy and Clarion Housing will also be attending on Saturday.

Greenshaw Secondary and Cleves Primary, two schools who have represented the Foundation and the club at the EFL Trust’s Kids Cup competition will also attend.  Cleves (players are pictured above) will be presented with the South of England Kids Cup at half time, having won through to the National Final to represent AFC Wimbledon at the Division One Play Off Final at Wembley in May. Greenshaw Girls earlier this week won a Regional Futsal Tournament today at Guildford.

Academy and Foundation staff will be holding a bucket collection around and inside the ground before the game and contributions from supporters will be most welcome. The donations will enable the Foundation to continue the work it does in its core areas of education, health, social inclusion and sports development.

Online donations can also be made by accessing the Foundation MyDonate page .
