Tomorrow is the first of the final seven matches of the season.
These matches will determine where we end in the league and, in turn, where we will be playing next season. Understandably there is a lot of tension and anxiety in the air, each of us dealing with it as best we can.
When, as I do from time to time, I look on social media there are generally a lot of negative comments and probably more fearful ones about what might happen. For some people this turns to anger and for others it surfaces as seeking someone to blame. Many offer their own solutions to what they see as our problems. Some are abusive. And some call for the fans to band together and support the team, on the grounds that it is the most helpful thing to do.
You won't be surprised to hear that I fall into that final group of people. We all have our own views of what is best for the team, indeed who should be selected, but we share one common cause. And that is that we want to support our club.
So for these last few matches of the season, I urge every fan to get behind the team before, during and after tomorrow's match and every other match until the season is complete. I cannot see, for example, how loud criticism of an individual player will make him better but I can see how it could easily make him perform less well.
This is only the second time in our 16-year history that we've faced serious adversity. We have done incredibly well to get where we are. Now help us to stay there. You can play your part in that tomorrow and for the six matches after that. I urge you to do so.
