The Foundation is appealing to Wimbledon supporters to once again support Wimbledon Foodbank over the summer holiday period when it provides a vital service to local families in need.
The Foodbank approached the club and Foundation with an urgent request for help as its food stocks were low at a peak period of demand over the six week holiday period.
Foundation staff will be manning a collection point outside the back bar by the inflatable for the Sunderland game on the Saturday 25 August and we would urge any supporters who can help the appeal to bring any items on the day between 12.30pm – 2.30pm.
All non-perishable food items will be accepted including the following items:
- Cereal
- Soup
- Sugar
- Rice
- Pasta sauce
- Beans
- Tinned meat
- Tinned vegetables
- Tea/coffee
- Tinned fruit
- Biscuits
- Squash
Foundation Director Philip Rudling said: "This was a direct request from the Foodbank who the club has worked with closely for several years – they approached us as they know we have been able to effectively support their project after the last successful collection in March. Summer food poverty is a big issue for local families in need in our local area and we hope supporters can be as generous as always."
