Going back home: View from a Dons fan

Dons Trust board member Jane Lonsdale on the return to Plough Lane

3 January 2018

What does it mean to be going back home for a Wimbledon supporter?

Later this year, clearance and building work will begin on the site for our new stadium at Plough Lane, following the signing of the section 106 agreement before Christmas.

Jane Lonsdale comes from a family of AFC Wimbledon supporters. She attended the landmark moment in Dons history and afterwards gave her views to Rob Cornell.

The interview with Jane can be seen below, via a link to our official club YouTube channel.

“My husband who is a big fan went to Plough Lane,” said Jane. “I’ve never been to Plough Lane, so it will be a new experience for me.”

“Some weeks we are sold out at Kingsmeadow and we just can’t fit people in. My children would like to bring their friends and we just can’t do that, whereas at a new ground we will absolutely be able to do that.”

“The foundation does so much community work,” added Jane. “They do a great job and having their base here in Wimbledon - in Merton - will mean they are much more able to reach that audience.”
