Anthony Wordsworth revealed shortly after signing today that he previously played for Wimbledon's academy and one of his early football heroes was Neal Ardley!

The 29-year-old is fully aware of Wimbledon's unique story after spending time with the Dons academy as a teenager.

Speaking to our iFollow channel, Anthony recalled: "I was actually with the academy at Wimbledon when I was a kid. I used to go to Selhurst Park and watch Wimbledon and I have a photo of the manager from when I was a kid. It's still sitting somewhere and I've told my old man to dig it out! Even if I do find it, I don't think I will be bringing it in because it will probably be put on the wall by the lads or something!"

On signing here, Anthony added: "First of all, we want to try and climb up the table, and see if we can finish higher. Personally, I want to get a few goals and assists."

Neal, who is pictured with our new addition at the training ground today, joked: "I said to seal the deal that I would sign it for him, that was the clinching moment!"
