Kiwi international Nik commits his future to AFC Wimbledon

Goalkeeper signs new deal

15 July 2018

Neal Ardley said he was delighted to keep Nik Tzanev at the club after the New Zealand international signed a new contract.

With Joe McDonnell having signed a new deal and the addition of Tom King, Neal feels the Dons are now well equipped in the goalkeeping position.

“You always want three keepers,” said Neal. “Since he came in, Nik has done really well and he is one who we think has got a real chance in the future. In an ideal world we would try to get him out on loan, but to do that we probably need to bring in another young keeper as someone that can progress through the Under-23s set-up. We are looking at that and we are trying. We are delighted that Nik has put pen to paper and, fingers-crossed, these keepers could be the future in a few years.”

Now aged 21, Wellington-born Nik was signed by Wimbledon in the summer of 2017 after an impressive trial and he recently made his full international debut for New Zealand.
