New signings on track to face Premier League Brighton

Come and watch Wimbledon’s new recruits against top-flight opponents on Saturday

18 July 2018

Neal Ardley is aiming to provide game-time for his latest summer recruits in the pre-season friendly against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Our first-team squad are currently away at a training camp in South Wales and the manager today told us that Scott Wagstaff (pictured above), Terell Thomas, and Anthony Wordsworth could all feature against Brighton. James Hanson also has a chance of playing in a Dons shirt for the first time.

"We are very hopeful that Scott, Terell, and Anthony will feature, as long as they don't pick up any knocks in the next few days," said Neal. "Maybe James Hanson will get some playing time too. In terms of the number of minutes they are ready for, I will discuss that with Jason Moriarty and Stuart Douglas towards the end of the week, but I am sure they will be involved."

Anthony Hartigan could also be handed game-time for the first time in pre-season after shaking off injury.

Of course, Brighton & Hove Albion earned plenty of plaudits for their impressive first season in the Premier League with the Seagulls surviving relegation with a game to spare.

Chris Hughton has since been busy in the transfer market with Mali international midfielder Yves Bissouma becoming his sixth summer signing after he joined from LOSC Lille. Brighton's last fixture was on Saturday when they drew 1-1 at St Gallen, as part of a pre-season tour of Switzerland. Brighton are expected to select a strong squad for Saturday's first-team fixture at the Cherry Red Records Stadium (3.00 pm kick-off).

Adult tickets start from £15 (terraces) for Saturday's game and you can book in advance from our online ticket shop or pay on the day.
