Boost your charity with support from AFC Wimbledon

There's still time to nominate your charity

8 June 2018

We are very proud of our community ethos at AFC Wimbledon.

As part of that, last season we had great charity events at home matches, including raising funds for Men United (Prostate Cancer UK), and the Paul Strank Charitable Trust with High Path (based in South Wimbledon). The picture above shows Warren Palmer from High Path saluting the crowd after he successfully completed his half-time penalty challenge at the Scunthorpe game.

Next season, we are already committed to working with Mind, a mental health charity that have teamed up with the EFL to promote the benefits of healthy bodies and healthy minds. Therefore, we have room for two other charities. Last season we supported The Good Grief Trust and WAY Widowed and Young. We are now asking for applications for next season and we will ask the fans to vote for the ones they wish to support.

The selected charities will get a number of benefits to raise funds and awareness of what they do.

This includes a bucket collection at a Saturday home game supported by promotions including:

• An article in the programme for the same game

• An article on the official site

• Social media publicity

We are also offering free use of our function suites for an event of your choice.

In addition, we are open to be approached about other ways of working together: for example, two seasons ago we carried out awareness training in conjunction with the Alzheimer's Society.

Charities will need to staff all events and collections with your own volunteers but we will work with you to draw on our experience on how to make your day as successful as possible.

Interested charities should send a brief application, setting out the name and objectives of your charity and, where applicable, any local initiatives you are conducting. The deadline for applications is Friday 15 June.

Please apply via e-mail to the club with the subject title 'Charity Collection'.
