Wanted: Volunteer for a vital role

Dons Draw administrator needed

21 March 2018

Established in 2005, the Dons Draw is a vital source of fundraising for AFC Wimbledon, raising over £75,000 per year.

After 13 years in the role of Dons Draw Administrator, Neil Messenbird has decided the time has finally come to hand on that role. We are therefore looking for a new Administrator. This role (which is unpaid) currently occupies around 3 -5 hours per month and essentially involves:

- Adding new entrants and removing lapsed entrants

- Reconciling direct debits with the Dons Draw database

- Producing a monthly list of numbers for the draw

- Conducting the draw and following up with prize winners

- Ensuring compliance with Small Society Lottery rules under the Gambling Act 2005 including reporting to local council

- Dealing with queries from entrants

Marketing of the Dons Draw is not handled by the Dons Draw Administrator and, whilst we are keen to find ways to promote further uptake, we do not contemplate that this will need to be reflected in the Administrator's responsibilities or skill set.

The successful applicant for this role will be comfortable using spreadsheets and databases (we currently use Salesforce.com) and will have an eye for detail and for making sure that processes are carried out properly and punctually. Processes will also need to be reviewed and updated from time to time by the Administrator, for example in the light of any changes in regulations surrounding small scale lotteries.

A suitable handover (including an updated user manual and one-to-one support) will be provided to the new Administrator by Neil.

If you are interested in finding out more about the role, please e-mail donsdraw@thedonstrust.org . To apply for the role of Administrator, please e-mail Mark Davis by 3 April, saying why you are interested in the role and what skills you bring. A CV would be welcome but is not essential. Given the nature of the responsibilities, we reserve the right to seek references for the successful applicant.

The Dons Trust Board would like to place on record its thanks to Neil Messenbird for his fantastic work on looking after the Dons Draw. During Neil's tenure, the Dons Draw has raised over £850,000 of funds for the club and paid over £300,000 in prizes.
