Match Details: Sell-out crowd to watch the Dons round off the season

Plenty going on at the club to mark the end of AFC Wimbledon's second campaign in League One

4 May 2018

AFC Wimbledon will on Saturday be aiming to finish the season on a high in front of a sell-out crowd at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

As we announced earlier this week, all tickets in home areas have been sold for the match against Bury, which takes place just four days after Neal Ardley's men sealed League One survival at Doncaster.

We remind supporters that this is a 5.30 pm kick-off with all fixtures in the division kicking off at this time.

There's plenty going on at the club to mark the end of the season and below is a summary of match arrangements:

Player of the Year awards

First-team players and management will be present from approximately 8.15 pm for the presentations, which will take place in the Your Golf Travel Bar. Supporters in the back bar will be able to see the presentations taking place, via a live feed. There will also be speakers outside the bars for fans to listen to the speeches from the car park area.

The Junior Dons Player of the Season award, WDON Player of the Year award, and the Community Player of the Year award will all be presented before the game at approximately 5.15 pm.

Programme

Packed with plenty of news and features from around your club, Saturday's final edition of the season is well worth adding to your collection. It features an interview with striker Joe Pigott, who has made a valuable contribution since joining the Dons in January. There's also a feature on Neal Ardley after he recently passed 300 games as AFC Wimbledon manager. The latest in our series of interviews on volunteers focuses on the work of our Safeguarding Officer Frank Thompson, who was appointed to this important club role last year.

Bars

These will be open from 2.00 pm on Saturday. Fans can pre-order their drinks for half-time and full-time in all bars. Simply order with a member of the bar team and collect your order at the table by the bar. This will help to alleviate queuing times at the bars.

Situated in the main bar will be two extra bars serving the following: Fosters, Kronenberg and Strongbow Dark Fruits. We will also be adding a separate bottle only bar (cash payments) situated next to the pop-up bar, serving Fosters, Heineken, Bulmers Original and Bulmers Berry. These bottles are priced at 2 for £6 or £3.50 each. A selection of real ales will be served in the Your Golf Travel Bar and the back bar. See our previous article for more details.

The pop up bars will be open from 4.00 pm, during half-time, and for a while after the game during the busy periods. We will be pleased to welcome Bury fans into the bar areas before the match.

The bars will be open until late (1.00 am) with supporters welcome to stay on and watch the Tony Bellew versus David Haye boxing bout.

Season Tickets

The deadline is on Saturday for ST holders to retain their seat or place on the terrace for 2018/19.

It is essential that supporters return their renewal form to the club by 9.00 pm on Saturday. If an application is received after that deadline, the season-ticket holder may lose their seat or place on their preferred terrace.

Completed ST forms can be handed in before the game at the white ticket booth in Jack Goodchild Way or at the complimentary tickets window. Alternatively, you can post them through the club letter box (players' entrance) after the game.

Golden Goals

This match will be the last time that the golden goal competition is organised by Roger and Linda Dennis. Roger and Linda have run the competition for 16 seasons, during which time they and their many volunteer sellers have raised over £200,000 for the Dons Trust. Some of the long-standing team of current sellers may also be stepping down, so why not thank them for their efforts by buying a final ticket or two! Funds raised are donated to the Dons Trust and you may win something in return. Watch this space for details of pre-match fundraising next season.

Dons Trust Kiosk

Dons Trust members and people interested in the work of the Trust are welcome to visit the Dons Trust kiosk before the match. Come and ask board members Cormac van der Hoeven and Nigel Higgs about the work of the board generally or their own specific roles. Cormac is a member of the board's Engagement & Communications committee, whilst Nigel is a member of the board's Strategy & Organisation and Operations committees. You can also join the Trust or renew your membership at the kiosk, sign up to the Dons Draw (our regular monthly lottery) or donate loose change.

Club Shop

Come along and pick-up a bargain from 2.00 pm on Saturday. Puma training shirts are on special offer, as we announced in our previous article. The club shop will be open until 5.15 pm pre-match and then for half an hour after the game.

Parking

The grass car park will be open on Saturday, but supporters should be aware that spaces will be limited due to work being carried out on the site. We therefore recommend getting here early if you wish to make use of parking at the stadium.
