First World War Centenary honoured this Saturday

The Royal British Legion will be out in force prior to the game against Shrewsbury Town.

2 November 2018

We will team up with the Surrey Royal British Legion this Saturday to mark one hundred years since the end of the First World War.

Before our match against Shrewsbury volunteer Poppy sellers will be collecting donations.

The Last Post will also be played before kick-off accompanied with a minute silence in honour the First World War Centenary and last weekend's tragedy at Leicester City.

Also in attendance will be two Chelsea Pensioners and a 100-year-old ex-serviceman. Please, if at all possible, take your places in the ground well before kick-off so that the ceremony can take place in a quiet and respectful atmosphere.

Additionally, the marvellous Terry’s Badges will be selling special Dons Poppy badges for £3 from the popular stall Terry runs at our home matches. So, make sure you pop along and take a look.

However, we regret to inform you that the First World War Centenary event hosted by the Surrey Royal British Legion this Saturday evening in the Your Golf Travel Bar has been cancelled.

We look forward to welcoming you all on Saturday and helping raise some important funds for the 2018 Poppy Appeal.
