Joe Pigott signs new contract at AFC Wimbledon

Great news for the Dons ahead of the home match against Shrewsbury

2 November 2018

We are delighted to announce that Joe Pigott has signed a new contract to extend his stay at AFC Wimbledon.

The 24-year-old, who joined Wimbledon from National League side Maidstone United, has struck six goals in all competitions this season.

Following his signing in the January transfer window, Joe scored several crucial goals in Wimbledon's battle to stay in League One, and Neal Ardley believes the striker can continue to progress.

"We took a chance on a lad who had ended up dipping down into non league level," said Neal. "We felt that he had learned his trade. Obviously, last season was tough for him, his fitness levels were probably not where we needed them to be, but he managed to score five goals in 12 games. That helped us in the run-in to get the points we needed to stay up. We have worked hard with him and challenged him to become a better all-round player. Joe started the season very well, not only with his goals but his all-round play. We feel that we want to invest more time and energy into Joe. He is a striker we believe has got the potential to be even better."

In total, Joe has scored 11 goals for AFC Wimbledon and we hope that he can hit the back of the net again tomorrow! Look out for an in-depth interview with Joe in tomorrow's match day programme.
