A hat-trick from Zach Robinson helped AFC Wimbledon Under-18s to an impressive victory against Milton Keynes.
Zach Robinson (pictured right above with Reuben Collins) hit a treble and Jack Madelin was also on target in a 4-0 away victory on Thursday afternoon.
Seeking a third successive league win, the young Dons got off to a perfect start when Robinson finished clinically in the just second minute after excellent play by David Fisher. The Dons poured forward at every opportunity and created continuous chances. On 17 minutes Robinson got his second when he latched on to an under hit back pass and rounded the keeper, before slotting home.
The Dons continued to dominate and create chances and though an MK player cleared off the line for a third time and Fisher’s brilliant overhead kick was saved, it was 3-0 in the 36th minute. Jack Madelin was the scorer after he attacked a great cross by Jack Currie. MK did hit the post in a rare attack, but Archie Proctor and Madelin marshalled the defence expertly and Elliot Bolton controlled midfield.
The Dons went in three goals up and the chances continued to come in the second-half. Robinson shot narrowly wide in the 47th minute and two minutes later the outstanding Ayoub Assal was denied on the goal line. However, a fourth goal arrived in the 65th minute when the unplayable Robinson won a penalty after more excellent play and he slotted home comfortably for his hat trick. It could have been more, but three was more than enough to continue an excellent response since the Under-18s were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup.
