Long-serving winger Andy Barcham is determined to put matters right and give Wimbledon fans something to cheer about this season, as the Dons head to Devon this weekend.
Andy, who was part of the Play-Off promotion-winning side at Wembley against tomorrow’s opponents Plymouth, firmly believes in the potential of the current squad.
“We’re trying to work really hard to sort things out as quickly as possible because we know we could be a lot better off than where we are now,” said Andy in an interview with our premium iFollow Dons subscription channel.
“It’s difficult going, but the boys and the coaching staff are working hard to put it right, starting with the game against Plymouth. It’s another game we think we can go and win. It’s a long way to travel for everyone, so we want to give them something to cheer about and hopefully we can do that.”
The 31-year-old has been with the Dons for over three years and is closing in on 150 appearances for Wimbledon. He knows what is expected of him and his team-mates when Neal Ardley’s side go in search of a third away win this season.
“We’re all in this together,” said Andy. “It hasn’t gone our way, but the team spirit is good here and we’re going to keep working hard, keep trying and we won’t stop until we get it right. I believe we can because we’ve got a very capable squad.
“We all know we’ve been under-achieving, but we all want to work hard so that we can get it right sooner rather than later because we really think we can achieve something this season. With it still being early days we’ve still got time to do that, but we have to start turning these performances into results and that’s what we’re going to look to try and do.”
