Egli Kaja has been rewarded for his progress by earning a first senior international call-up for Albania.
The 21-year-old, who is currently on loan at Scottish Premier club Livingston, has previously been selected at youth level by Albania.
However, this marks a real breakthrough for Egli, who has been called up to the senior squad by current manager Christian Panucci for a friendly against Jordan, which is a warm-up for the UEFA Nations League match with Israel.
Egli posted the following on Twitter after his call-up: “My first senior national team call up, couldn’t be prouder. Two big games ahead! A dream come true.”
The right midfielder, who was born in Prelez, Kosovo, moved to England when he was three and he is eligible to play for Albania with his parents and grandparents born in that country.
Egli, who joined Wimbledon at the age of 11, progressed through our academy before signing his first professional contract in 2015. He has since made 27 first-team appearances for the Dons.
