Joe Pigott's fifth goal of the season lifted Wimbledon to victory at Gillingham yesterday and he said that the squad had to dig deep to get back to winning ways.
In an interview for our iFollow channel, Joe stressed the importance of earning a first league victory since the opening day, whatever way it was achieved.
"It was really tough," said Joe. "Maybe the fans could not see it, but the pitch was really spongy and pretty horrible to play on. A few of the lads were picking up knocks at the end. I'm just chuffed to get the three points, we lasted the game well. We had to dig deep and make sure that whatever happened, we got a result from the game.
"It was a great ball from Deji (for the goal). I managed to sneak around the keeper and I struck it well enough for it to nestle nicely! I was really happy with that. I had a few other chances as well, but ultimately we got the three points and we're all really pleased."
