Young Dons praised after hard-fought draw at Luton

Update from the latest match for our Under-23 development squad

Alan Reeves saluted an 'excellent team performance' from Wimbledon's Under-23 development squad after a battling draw against Luton.

In a behind-closed-doors match at Luton's training ground, the Dons secured a first point in this season's Central League South campaign with a 0-0 draw.

Donte Lodge-Francis came closest to a winner for Wimbledon when he headed over the crossbar after a well delivered corner from Neset Bellikli. The Dons fielded six Under-18s in the starting 11 for this fixture against a more experienced Luton team.

Speaking after the game, Alan Reeves said: "The boys played really well, it was a good solid team display. Everyone did their jobs and we had no weak links. It was an excellent team performance and I told them afterwards that I was proud of them. At the end of the game we had three first-year Under-18s on the pitch. The older lads, the regular Under-23s took the challenge on, and helped organise the younger boys. Luton had two or three first-team squad players involved, so it was a good result.

"We could have taken the lead when Donte headed over in the first-half and Tyler Burey (pictured) put over great crosses, but we did not quite manage to get on the end of them. I don't really want to pick out individuals as they all played well."

AFC Wimbledon: Nik Tzanev, Kyron Stabana, Tom Scott, Archie Proctor, Paul Kalambayi, Tyler Burey, Jack Rudoni, Finley McNab, Neset Bellikli, Ossama Ashley (KJ Osu), Donte Lodge-Francis (David Fisher).
