Jane earns MBE in New Year's Honours list

Congratulations to a Wimbledon supporter on her award

28 December 2019

Dons Trust Board member Jane Lonsdale has received an MBE as part of the New Year’s Honours.

The MBE is awarded for her contribution to public service and volunteering. Jane has worked in the public sector, at HM Treasury, for over 30 years and has volunteered at various charities, in the third sector, theatre and sport since she first started volunteering as a Girl Guide in the early 1980s.

Jane said: “It is really lovely to be recognised in this way. I am lucky to have a job I really enjoy and volunteering is something that is really important and so rewarding for me. There are some real heroes in amongst the recipients this year and it’s truly humbling to be honoured amongst them.

“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank my parents and my husband Richard and my children Will and Michael who have always supported me.”

Commenting on this recognition, Dons Trust Chair Mark Davis said: “It’s brilliant that Jane has been honoured this way. As all Dons Trust members know, Jane works tirelessly in her role as a board member, and she has done some fantastic work on the diversity & inclusion agenda and to support our younger members in recent years. On behalf of everyone on the Dons Trust board, I congratulate Jane on this much deserved honour.”

Jane will receive the honour at a ceremony in 2020.
