Loan watch: Young Dons duo star in victory

Man-of-the-match display from our Under-18s striker David Fisher

9 December 2019

Young Dons duo Jamil Awoyejo and David Fisher played starring roles for South Park in their victory on Saturday.

Defender Awoyejo scored on his debut for the Isthmian League South Central side in their 4-2 win over Bracknell Town, while striker Fisher deservedly picked up the man-of-the-match award.

Fisher has been with South Park for a fortnight while Awoyejo made an immediate impact scoring the second goal in the 33rd minute, having only joined in the build-up to the game. Both are on work experience deals for 28 days. Our former under-18s striker Great Nii Okai Evans also netted twice for South Park, who we will visit in the next round of the Surrey Senior Cup in early 2020.

Irish winger Dylan Connolly came on as a substitute in the closing stages for Bradford City, as they maintained their impressive home form in Sky Bet League Two with a 1-0 victory at home to Newport County.

Former Wimbledon midfielder Jake Reeves again collected the man-of-the-match award, as he stepped up his return to the game following a lengthy injury lay-off.

New Zealand international goalkeeper Nik Tzanev helped Sutton United claim a point from their visit to Meadow Lane. It finished 1-1 against Neal Ardley’s Notts County side in the Vanarama National League.

Forwards Tommy Wood and Zach Robinson both figured in Leatherhead’s 1-0 victory at the Dripping Pan against Lewes in the Isthmian Premier. Wood started the game and he was joined up front by Robinson as a substitute in the 56th minute.

Midfielder and third year scholar Richie Mbele scored from the penalty spot for Godalming Town at the Bill Kyte Stadium, but the hosts went down 4-3 at home to Cove in the Combined Counties League.

Our Academy has signed an agreement with Division One team Westside that will give our young players the opportunity to experience competitive, senior football. Jamil Awoyejo has already been on a work experience deal with Westside. Goalkeeper Bert White is currently on a similar deal with the Chalky Lane-based side.

Our picture shows David Fisher celebrating his goal in our recent 5-1 victory at Hanworth Villa, which set up an FA Youth Cup third round meeting at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United on December 17.
