Aaron Ramsdale thrived on being thrust straight in for his Dons debut barely 24 hours after being introduced to his new Wimbledon team-mates.
The 20-year-old only met the rest of the squad on Friday morning after signing on loan from AFC Bournemouth and he said that his Friday night was spent checking up on the names of all his team-mates!
Speaking to iFollow after the dramatic 3-2 win at Fleetwood, Aaron said: “It’s been tough, but I like it that way! I like to get chucked in so that I can prove what I’m about before anyone really knows me. I was sitting in the room on Friday night looking at the website trying to put names to faces! Obviously, you’ve got a lot of nicknames in there. We did really well so full credit to the lads. We’ve given the fans something to shout about in making the next round.
“It was really exciting. We went 2-0 up with two really good goals, but to get pegged back to 2-2 was disappointing. The fight that we showed to come back and win the game in the manner that we did was excellent.
“We've got two loan full-backs and Paul has just come into the team. With Terell getting injured, Will had to drop back in and he was outstanding. We won 50 or 60 per cent of the headers against Paddy Madden and Ched Evans, players who have scored a lot of goals in League One. We are thrilled with the win.”
