Dons defender poised to return against AFC Bournemouth

Will Nightingale back in the Wimbledon squad

16 July 2019

Glyn Hodges confirmed that Will Nightingale has shaken off a thigh strain in time to make the trip to La Manga.

The defender missed Wimbledon's weekend trip to Germany due to a knock, but he trained yesterday and he was a part of the 20-man Dons squad that flew out to Spain this morning.

The Dons face AFC Bournemouth tonight (7.00 pm kick-off UK time) in a match that can be viewed live for free on the Premier League club's website. You can register in advance by accessing the designated page on their website.

Speaking ahead of the trip, Glyn Hodges said: “Will didn’t make the trip to Germany because he had a sore thigh. The key to pre-season is making sure that players don’t break down, but if that does happen then you want it to be a day or two and they are back in. Will trained again yesterday and he is feeling fresh so he will play a part in both games in La Manga. Fingers-crossed, everyone else stays fit and gets the fitness that they need.”

Look out a bit later on our website for video footage from the training ground of The Dons preparing to face Eddie Howe's top-flight side.
