Wimbledon will face Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth in a televised pre-season friendly on Tuesday 16 July in La Manga.
A summer training camp for Wally’s boys to the Spanish football complex was organised months ago with Wimbledon due to fly out on Monday night, as part of preparations for the 2019/20 season. However, invites from other clubs to play pre-season matches in La Manga have recently been received and we’ve reached agreement with both Bournemouth and Plymouth to play matches out there.
The first match will take place on Tuesday against the Cherries with an 8.00 pm kick-off (Spanish time). Our former loanee Aaron Ramsdale (pictured) is currently out there as one of four keepers with Bournemouth and there is a possibility that he could face Wimbledon. This match will be broadcast on AFC Bournemouth’s website with access for free on afcbTV. All supporters can watch it simply by registering for an account on this club platform. The fixture will be played on pitch A at the La Manga Club Football Centre (full address 30389 La Manga Club, Cartagena, Murcia). Entry will be free for supporters who want to attend. Admission is on a first come, first served basis, with an 800 capacity stand at the venue.
In addition, Wimbledon will also take on Plymouth Argyle in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 20 July (7.00 pm kick-off Spanish time). This will take place at the same venue with supporters also welcome to attend for free.
