Countdown: A landmark Dons victory v Port Vale

Just eight days until EFL One fixtures are released

12 June 2019

With just eight days to go until AFC Wimbledon's fixtures for 2019/20 are announced, we asked on social media for supporters to select their favourite matches from our first season back in the Football League.

The 3-2 victory against Port Vale on 3 September 2011 - Wimbledon's first home league win after promotion - figured highly. It included an opener from Jack Midson, who ended the season as joint League 2 top scorer, a cracking strike from Gareth Gwillim, and a last-gasp winner from Christian Jolley (pictured celebrating above).

Responding to supporters on social media, our Sports Scientist
@JasMoriarty recalled that our match-winner on the day was not even initially named in the squad!

"Christian wasn’t in the squad so he asked me to run him hard before the game. Charles Ademeno got injured from a Jamie Stuart tackle in the warm-up, so Christian was put on the bench, which made the goal even better!"
