Joe Pigott will always be grateful to AFC Wimbledon for providing him with another chance to play league football – and he believes the club can make significant strides by moving to a new stadium.
Pigott joined us in January 2018 from Maidstone United and his important goals for Wimbledon have made him a favourite with supporters. His 18 goals last season, including plenty of vital strikes during the run-in, helped The Dons to pull off a dramatic League One survival act against the odds. Pigott was fully aware of how much it meant to our fans to stay up after everything they’ve contributed towards our success at this unique club.
“We have a large number of fans that follow us, both home and away, and you sense how much they really want their club to succeed,” said Pigott. “The fans want Wimbledon to reach the heights that the club was at previously. During the last 18 months I’ve come to learn from the fans about what it would mean to them to go back home and watch their team play in Wimbledon. I’m sure it will be an amazing moment when the first game at the new stadium finally happens.
“This club means an awful lot to me as Wimbledon gave me a chance to play back in the Football League. I can’t thank the club enough for that and who knows where we can take this club? The club has achieved so much in such a short space of time and now we are aiming to push it forward again. The new stadium can help the club to make further progress.”
