Last Saturday’s first home league victory of the year has earned AFC Wimbledon and Wally Downes a second LG Performance of the Week Award for this season.
“It’s nice to be appreciated by the LMA and the sponsors,” said Wally in an interview for our iFollow Dons channel. “When you think about it, we were bottom of the league and playing a team just outside the play-offs so it was a resounding, good team performance.”

Wally received a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation at the training ground this morning, to commemorate the 2-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers.
It’s the second time we’ve been awarded the accolade in 2019, following the 4-2 win over West Ham in the Emirates FA Cup.
The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle and Dave Bassett, determined that the award should go to The Dons.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 5,500 competitive matches in professional football.
