Kwesi Appiah yesterday struck from the penalty spot to help Ghana to a friendly victory against Mauritania.
The Dons striker marked his return to the Ghana squad after a four-year absence with a goal in just the third minute after winning the penalty himself, helping his nation to a 3-1 win. Kwesi was a part of the Ghana squad for the 1-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying victory against Kenya on Saturday, but he did not play.
However, Kwesi’s return to action after a hamstring injury could provide a boost for AFC Wimbledon at a vital stage of the League One season.
