Goalkeeper and goal-scoring left-back earn plaudits

Aaron Ramsdale and Steve Seddon made key contributions to AFC Wimbledon’s victory against Doncaster and both players have earned recognition for their performances.

Steve Seddon’s goal-scoring display against Doncaster earned him selection for the Football League Paper’s Team of the Day and our manager was full of praise for the left-back after Saturday's game.

Speaking after the 2-0 win, Wally Downes said: “Steve has a great attitude and he has an eye for goal, he scored a couple at Stevenage, and that was a terrific finish. He is everything you are looking for in a player who is coming into your club. He has no airs and graces, he has mixed well with the boys, and he puts his effort in for every game.”

On-loan keeper Ramsdale’s clean sheet against promotion-chasers Doncaster earned him the Man of the Match award and selection as Quest TV’s Player of the Weekend for League One.

“The clean sheet was not an easy one," said Wally. "He had to pull off good saves near the end on Saturday and for his progression that’s terrific for him. Where he comes from with his England stuff perhaps he’s done a lot more possession and passing work, but I’m sure at some stage in his career he’s going to have to kick long and he’s proved he can do that. He’s also proved that under pressure at 1-0 up, and when you’ve not won for a while at home, that he can make critical saves. I am absolutely delighted for him.”
