Dons seek strong finish to season with Orient up next

AFC Wimbledon Ladies at home on Wednesday night

12 March 2019

AFC Wimbledon Ladies will on Wednesday night be seeking to kick-start a strong finish to the season by beating Leyton Orient.

Spectators are welcome to come along and cheer on the ladies in tomorrow night’s match at Carshalton Athletic (7.45 pm kick-off) and manager Chris Lyons said that support will be greatly appreciated.

“We know results and performances haven’t been consistent recently, but we’re all working very hard to change this. Injuries and availability haven’t helped, but the reserve players that have stepped up have taken their chances very well. That is a massive positive and bodes well for the future. We have six games left to play, so we’ll be trying to maximise the points from these games so that we can finish as high up the table as possible. Three of those games are at home, starting on Wednesday night against Leyton Orient, so we would appreciate any support from anyone that can come down.”

AFC Wimbledon Ladies made history this season by reaching the fourth round of the SSE Women’s FA Cup, before bowing out to Super League side Bristol City. The Dons currently occupy sixth place in FA Women’s League National Division One South East, but a top-three place is still up for grabs.

Entry is free at Wednesday night’s game, so come along and show your support! The address is as follows: Carshalton Athletic, Colston Avenue, SM5 2PW.

The other fixtures (all 2.00 pm kick-offs) are as follows:

  • Sunday 24 March - Home v Stevenage Ladies
  • Sunday 31 March Away v Norwich City
  • Sunday 07 April Away v Ipswich Town
  • Sunday 14 April Home v Enfield Town
  • Sunday 05 May Away v Actonians
