Kwesi Appiah has been called up by Ghana for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya later this month.
It means that Kwesi will be unavailable for Wimbledon’s home match against Gillingham on Saturday 23 March. His international selection comes almost four years since his last international appearance, which was in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Final against the Ivory Coast.
Glyn Hodges said: “It’s fantastic for Kwesi as it’s four years since his last call-up. To be selected for international level when you are playing in Division One is great, so all credit to him. During the spell when he was fit, he was terrific for us. He is going to be there or thereabouts for us now, but he is going through certain tests at the moment. Hopefully, this selection will give him a gee-up and a bit of confidence to push on so that he’s on the pitch sooner, rather than later.”
