We are delighted to announce that Nick Daws has been appointed as Head of Recruitment at AFC Wimbledon.
Nick has a wealth of experience as a player and a coach, most recently at Scunthorpe United, where he served as Assistant Manager and Manager between January 2016 and August 2018.
In his programme notes for today’s game against Doncaster, Chief Executive Erik Samuelson, said: “A little while ago we appointed Nick to take charge of a project to create a formal recruitment database and the scouting network necessary to underpin it. For the last few weeks, Nick has been overseeing extensive scouting trips carried out by an expanded network of scouts and making use of supporting software to enable us to standardise our reporting and assessment procedures. Obviously, it’s down to Wally to specify what sort of players he wants in terms of position, age, likely affordability, and so on, while Nick’s job is to help create a number of options for each position well before the summer window opens.
“Nick’s background and first love is coaching and managing, but we were delighted when we found out that he was available to help us with this project until the end of the season. That won’t be an end to it, of course, as we are committed to adopting the structure that Nick is creating and extending and improving it over the years.”
Look out later this season for an interview with Nick, which will highlight his work and how he is getting on in his new role.
