AFC Wimbledon supporters are invited to join Wally Downes and his squad at an open training session on Saturday 20 April.
The fun event will be aimed at younger Dons with an Easter egg giveaway, plus a Q&A with our manager, but supporters of all ages will be welcome to attend.
It will be held at the Cherry Red Records Stadium with the following approximate schedule:
- 12 noon – Open training (a light session due to Bristol Rovers match a day earlier)
- 1.00 pm - Question and Answer session (for children only). Adults can be there, but questions will only be taken from children. (Under-16).
- 1.30 pm – Players presented to supporters in the Your Golf Travel Bar.
- 1.45 pm - Easter egg giveaway. A chance to meet the players with free Easter eggs for young Dons.
Speaking about the event, Wally Downes said: “The players came up with the idea of doing something for the fans (paying for coach travel to Shrewsbury) and the supporters have been brilliant for us since. They’ve been a big part of what we’ve done. It’s Easter and I don’t think it should be a one-off every season. I think there are opportunities to do stuff and give something to the young kids, including Easter eggs. The fans will have a little chance to see a training session, though it won’t be much because we will have played the day before. This is not something you do once a season and think ‘okay, we’ve done something for the sake of it’. It’s not about that, it’s about constantly engaging.”
