The young Dons maintained their highly impressive recent run of form ahead of Saturday’s visit from league leaders Northampton.

Mark Robinson’s side have lost only three of their last 25 games, but for the third week running had to share the points. Wimbledon yet again dominated proceedings and created countless chances, but squandered a two goal advantage in their 3-3 draw with Oxford United at the training ground.

Bobby Mills gave The Dons an early lead after a minute with a left foot strike, but it was cancelled out a minute later after some sloppy defending. Further goals from the excellent Ayoub Assal and Archie Procter (pictured), in a first half dominated by the Dons, put them firmly in control. Especially after Oxford had a player sent off, for pulling down Assal as he went through one on one with the Oxford keeper.

In a second half, played into a strong wind, a mixture of missed chances and poor concentration saw the Dons throw away their two goal lead. The young Dons now face Northampton at home on Saturday morning in a game they need to win to keep their hopes alive of winning Merit League 1.
