Aaron Ramsdale has beaten off strong competition to win the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans' Player of the Month award for April.
Rambo earned the League One accolade after making 24 saves in total during the month, a contribution that proved crucial to AFC Wimbledon's Great Escape.
The AFC Bournemouth keeper was voted the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month by football fans across the country. In a vote run by fan engagement experts, Snack Media, Rambo won with 28 per cent of the vote, edging out Portsmouth’s Jamal Lowe, Luton’s James Collins, Charlton’s Lyle Taylor and Barnsley duo Alex Mowatt and Cauley Woodrow.
In the third of five divisional votes carried out over seven days via Snack’s digital and social networks and supported by top flight football clubs and press, it was clear that Ramsdale’s strong performances last month – in which he made the most saves in the league and secured AFC Wimbledon’s League One status for 2019/20 - has resonated not just with Dons fans, but with supporters of teams up and down the country.
Liz Cope, chief marketing officer, Bristol Street Motors said: “Supporting the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award is a privilege. The accolade highlights the high calibre of talent currently demonstrated by the players, while acknowledging achievements throughout the season. The award is voted for by the fans and a lucky few have the opportunity to present the prize to the winning footballer. Allowing fans, who are the lifeblood of the game, to continue to meet their football heroes is very special, and we look forward to continuing to make these dreams a reality.”
