AFC Wimbledon will be holding a special presentation at Saturday’s match against Gillingham to mark the 50th anniversary of club sponsors Paul Strank Roofing.
The club are proud of its long association with the well-known Wimbledon roofing company, which plays a big part in the local community, as well as providing valuable support to AFC Wimbledon.
Paul Strank founded his company back in 1969 and in 2013 he was awarded the MBE for his services to charity and the community. Since then, their charity work has grown and every year the company celebrates its links with the community by hosting a Paul Strank Charitable Gala.
Paul (centre in the above picture) is a lifelong Wimbledon supporter, first watching matches through the gates at Plough Lane, and volunteering as a steward and a doorman for five years on match days. Along with the fans, he protested at the break up and move of Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes. For many years, Paul kept the original Wimbledon FC Plough Lane gates safe at his yard, in the hope that one day he would be there to return them to their rightful home.
Paul Strank Roofing have been key sponsors of AFC Wimbledon since 2006. The company’s sponsorship of the main stand here at the Cherry Red Records Stadium started in 2008 and their support has helped play a big part in the club’s rise through the leagues. In addition, the assistance of Paul Strank Roofing is a big help on match days. The company has provided free scaffolding and a platform for the cameras and crew to allow the football matches to be filmed, which is regularly checked and certified and also amended as needed on certain occasions. This has been provided for many years at no charge.
All at AFC Wimbledon congratulate Paul Strank Roofing on 50 years in business. Come On You Dons!
