Jack and Zach included in squad for Cup replay trip

Academy duo to travel to Doncaster for midweek tie

18 November 2019

Young duo Jack Madelin and Zach Robinson will travel with the first team squad for tomorrow night’s FA Cup, first round replay at Doncaster Rovers.

Welsh under-17 defender Madelin (pictured) recently signed his first professional contract with the club. He made his debut coming on as a second-half substitute in the League One game at Burton Albion. He also played the full ninety minutes of our Leasing.com Trophy game at Southend United last Wednesday.

Striker Robinson returned from a work experience placement with Basingstoke Town, where he made the successful transition into senior football by scoring regularly for the Hampshire club. He made his Wimbledon debut as a second-half substitute in the group game at Roots Hall coming on for Kwesi Appiah.

Manager Glyn Hodges will also be able to call on defender Ryan Delaney and midfielder Max Sanders, after both returned to the side from injury on Saturday at Blackpool. Delaney (Rochdale) and Sanders (Brighton and Hove Albion) are available for selection, even though they are both on loan to The Dons. Sanders came off in the second-half at Blackpool, but will make the trip for Tuesday night. Centre-back Paul Kalambayi served a one-match suspension for the Blackpool game and returns to the squad.

However, none of the players who were ruled out for the game at the weekend will be available for the tie at the Keepmoat Stadium. That means Glyn will still have to do without defenders Rod McDonald (knee) and Will Nightingale (hip), midfielder Anthony Wordsworth (calf) and Watford loanee Michael Folivi (groin).

Midfielder Jack Rudoni and striker Tommy Wood are both cup-tied, having figured for Tonbridge Angels and Leatherhead in the qualifying rounds of the competition. EFL Young Player of the Month Marcus Forss will also not be available, as Championship club Brentford don’t want the Finnish under-21 striker ruled out for the same reason under the terms of his loan deal.
