Testing start for Dons duo on return

Loan watch: Wimbledon pair involved in derby clash

While the first team enjoyed victory over Gillingham on Saturday, a number of our younger players benefited from competitive game time elsewhere.

New Zealand international Nik Tzanev made his home debut for Sutton in their match against high-flying Bromley. Nik was part of a Sutton side that won at Torquay the week before, but on this occasion the keeper conceded twice against the Kent club during a 2-0 defeat at Gander Green Lane in the National League.

Midfielder Finlay Macnab (pictured) and striker Tommy Wood were immediately thrust into a Mole Valley derby on their return to Isthmian League Leatherhead. The pair were on the losing side at Fetcham Grove though, as visitors Dorking Wanderers progressed to the next round of the FA Trophy with a 3-0 win. Finlay played for 70 minutes before he was substituted.

Young Academy striker David Fisher made his South Park debut at home to Uxbridge in the Isthmian South Central. David played for the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 defeat. Midfielder Richie Mbele, also on a work experience deal, figured in Godalming Town’s 1-1 draw at Bedfont & Feltham in the Combined Counties League. Former Wimbledon youngster Reece Weekes had put the visitors ahead.

Winger Dylan Connolly played in Bradford City’s 2-0 defeat at Plymouth Agyle in League Two, where former Wimbledon midfielder Jake Reeves was among the Bantams' substitutes, as he continued his recovery from long-term injury.
