Young Dons hit 15 in two matches

AFC Wimbledon's young talents hit the goal trail

6 November 2019

Our Under-18s have been displaying that clinical edge in abundance by striking 15 goals in two games.

Following the 5-0 FA Youth Cup win against Leyton Orient last week, the same opponents were on the receiving end once again at the weekend. Ayoub Asssal and Troy Chiabi led the way in the goalscoring stakes with both striking twice in a 10-0 win at Orient on Saturday.

Wimbledon got off to an emphatic start, piling the pressure on from the kick-off and keeping the ball well in Orient's half. It wasn't long before a quick bit of thinking from winger David Fisher put the skilful Ayoub Assal in down the channel only for him to be brought down inside the box. He stepped up and made no mistake from the spot. Wimbledon continued to move the ball and in relentless fashion goals from Troy Chiabi, Dylan Adjei-Hersey and Fisher followed before the half hour mark.

A superb team move was then rounded off in the 32nd minute by Kwaku Frimpong, who slotted home for his first of the season. Another impressive team move earned the sixth in the 41st minute when Huseyin Biler's cross was parried by the keeper and Chiabi slotted home. Isaac Olanyian completed the scoring for the half with a 40-yard free-kick, which nestled into the bottom corner for a 7-0 half-time lead.

The second-half started in similar fashion with Wimbledon dominating. The hosts may have thought Wimbledon had eased off, but Elliot Bolton fired home to make it eight. Assal and schoolboy Quaine Bartley completed the scoring.

Take a look below at the first and second-half goals from the victory versus Orient on Saturday. You can also watch the goals from the 5-0 FA Youth Cup win below. The young Dons will face Hanworth Villa away in the second round proper after they caused a surprise by winning 3-2 in Kent against Gillingham. We will confirm a date for this fixture in due course.
