Glyn Hodges has today recalled Zach Robinson and Finlay Macnab from their loan spells and both players will be in contention to feature in Saturday’s FA Cup tie versus Doncaster.
Seventeen-year-old striker Zach has scored six goals at Basingstoke Town in a very successful loan spell and midfielder Finlay has earned vital first-team experience at Leatherhead after signing his first pro deal recently.
Glyn Hodges said: “Looking at the injuries and the numbers that we talked about yesterday, we’ve called back Finlay Macnab and Zach Robinson. They will come into the squad for Saturday. It’s an opportunity for them to come in and if they get a chance they will be delighted. Zach has scored a lot of goals and he got Player of the Month for Basingstoke, they loved him over there. Both of the clubs involved are disappointed to lose Zach and Finlay, so that’s a measure of how well they have done. We will keep them back here, and see how we go. If more players come back we may get them out on loan a little higher so that we push them on again.
“It’s an FA Cup tie and they will be on the bench with a chance of being called upon. It will be great to give them as much encouragement as we possibly can and to help them at the start of their careers.”
