Glyn praises wing-backs after second successive win

Osew and Wagstaff were instrumental in victory versus Orient

Glyn Hodges saluted the impact of wing-backs Scott Wagstaff and Paul Osew after AFC Wimbledon’s Leasing.com Trophy victory last night.

Both players were instrumental in the 3-0 win versus Leyton Orient, a match in which Glyn selected a virtual full-strength team.

Speaking after the group C victory, Glyn said: “I looked at this week, which included two home games and an away game, and I thought that to get two wins would be massive. To boys will take confidence from the goals we got and now moving forward to Saturday we are in a better place than we were this time last week. We set them up hoping for an enjoyable experience.

“We are just asking the boys to get the ball into certain areas and we’ve got some flying wing-backs who are getting up and creating at the moment. Waggy won the penalty and Paul Osew got the assist for Michael Folivi’s goal. We’ve got equal threat down each side and we are getting people in key areas, that’s the main thing. Waggy has got great energy, the first goal is tremendous. Trott gave it to Waggy and the way he got the pen, that’s something we’ve been working on.

“In his first game (at Peterborough) Paul was probably a bit nervous, but he took a massive stride forward at the weekend, getting his first goal, and he has kept that up. He is contributing, he wants to learn, and he’s hungry. He is doing very well.”
