Young Dons strikers make headlines again

Tommy and Zach lead the way in our weekend loan watch

Strikers Tommy Wood and Zach Robinson both scored important goals for their sides on Saturday.

Zach Robinson continues to impress on work experience loan at Basingstoke Town. The young forward notched an injury-time winner for the Hampshire club in their 3-2 win against Highworth Town in Southern League Division One. Centre back Reuben Collins also figured for Basingstoke, having extended his loan for a further month.

Tommy Wood (pictured) has also extended his loan by a further month and he celebrated by scoring Leatherhead’s third goal, in a 3-0 league victory over Cheshunt at Fetcham Grove in the Isthmian League Premier Division. Midfielder Finlay Macnab also played a part in the Tanners win, as he came on as a substitute with seventeen minutes remaining.

Dylan Connolly continues to help Bradford City climb Sky Bet League Two. The Irish winger played in the 2-1 win against Swindon Town, with the Bantams currently in sixth place in the table.

Midfielder Jack Rudoni played for Tonbridge Angels in a friendly, as they beat Romford 2-1 at the Longmead Stadium. Defender James O’Halloran, who was with AFC Wimbledon last season, came on as a substitute for the Kent side.

Ayoub Assal returned to league action with Metropolitan Police at the weekend, having figured as a substitute in our dramatic London Senior Cup victory on penalties at Imber Court in midweek. The midfielder suffered a defeat though, as Met Police went down 2-1 at Gosport Borough in the Southern Premier South.

It was an even tougher time for Richie Mbele though, as he was part of a Godalming Town side that lost 5-1 at home to Tooting Bec in the Combined Counties League.
