Former Wimbledon defender John Shears will be joining us in pre-match hospitality for Saturday's match versus Shrewsbury.
A fine servant for Wimbledon in the late 1950s and early 60s, John left to join Sutton United - and he was then left with the thankless task of marking Eddie Reynolds at Wembley!
John, who grew up as a Wimbledon supporter and attended matches at Plough Lane, played for his hometown club, but then faced The Dons at Wembley in the FA Amateur Cup Final in 1963. Of course, Wimbledon triumphed 4-2 with Reynolds scoring all four goals with his head.
John is pictured above in the back row (third from left) in a Wimbledon team picture from the early 1960s.
