It's a treble! Max completes his AFC Wimbledon return

Dons complete another loan signing

2 September 2019

AFC Wimbledon have completed a third deadline day signing with the arrival of midfielder Max Sanders.

The 20-year-old, who has captained Brighton's Under-23s, is a midfielder who has earned a fine reputation during his development through the ranks with the Premier League club.

Our manager Wally Downes said: "Max is a very accomplished footballer, he can pass the ball very well and he dictates the pace of a game. He links play up and he's a very talented boy. He's young and hungry, he wants to come and play. I'd love to get him in the team, but it's up to him to get in the side."

Max is certainly no stranger to AFC Wimbledon though as he was with our academy as a boy, the midfielder playing for our Under-7s team in the past! Max has signed on a season-long loan deal.

After progressing through Albion’s academy, Max broke into the under-23 side for the 2017/18 season, eventually captaining the side to promotion into the Premier League 2 Division 1.

Max was called into Albion’s first team for their visit to Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup, taking his place on the bench at Old Trafford.

During Albion’s debut season in the Premier League 2 Division 1 (Under-23 level), Sanders made 14 appearances, scoring twice against Blackburn Rovers away from home, helping the side to a third-placed finish.

Sanders has also represented England at under-19 level, and featured four times for the Young Lions at the 2018 Under-19 European Championships.
