Tommy Wood netted a quick-fire brace for Leatherhead on Saturday, in a five-all thriller that rounded–off an eventful week for the on loan Wimbledon striker.

Tommy levelled the scores at Worthing to make it 3-3 in the 62nd minute and then followed up with a second to put Leatherhead in front, nearing the midway point of the half. Incredibly the game finished 5-5. Having made a similar loan move to the Tanners on the eve of the game, midfielder Finlay Macnab was among Leatherhead’s substitutes.

Tommy was also on target for Leatherhead in their FA Cup, first qualifying round replay at Lewes in midweek, to give his new side a 2-1 lead. The game went to extra-time, but he wasn’t involved in the penalty shoot-out which Leatherhead lost, as he'd been sent-off.

Midfielder Ayoub Assal also endured a mixed week playing for Metropolitan Police.

Ayoub helped set up the Met’s equaliser ten minutes from time in their FA Cup replay at Horsham, however there was late heartbreak as they lost 3-2. Ayoub enjoyed a better weekend though, as he scored the third goal in a 3-1 victory in the league against Salisbury City.

Young centre-back Reuben Collins was sent-off for a professional foul just before half-time while on duty for Basingstoke Town, as they went down 2-1 to Cinderford Town at Winchester. Forward Zach Robinson also figured in the Hampshire club’s starting line-up. Both players had made their first appearances for Basingstoke in a midweek Cup defeat to Moneyfields.

Irish winger Dylan Connolly played for three quarters of the game, in Bradford City’s 1-0 victory at Walsall in League Two.
