Loan watch: Zach bags a brace in Trophy victory

Weekend round-up of the young Dons in action elsewhere

30 September 2019

Forward Zach Robinson scored his first two goals at senior level on Saturday to help Basingstoke Town book their place in the next round of the FA Trophy.

Defender Reuben Collins returned from suspension and also played a part in the Hampshire club’s 4-3 victory over North Leigh, as Zach (right of Reuben in our picture and on work experience loan) bagged a brace to book their passage.

Winger Dylan Connolly again made a good impression on Bradford City’s supporters, with an eye-catching display in their 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United. Dylan played for 81 minutes of the League Two game.

Midfielder Finlay Macnab came on as a late substitute to help Leatherhead over the line, as the Tanners recorded their first victory and kept a clean sheet following a 1-0 victory over Bowers & Pitsea in the league.

It wasn’t such a great weekend for fellow midfielder Jack Rudoni. He and his fellow Tonbridge Angels colleagues went down to a 1-0 defeat at Hampton and Richmond, with the winning goal scored in the four minutes of added time. Hampton’s line-up included a former under-18s team mate of Jack’s with striker Bobby Mills among the substitutes.

Ayoub Assal was part of a Metropolitan Police side that picked up their first home point of the season, from a 1-1 draw with Taunton Town at Imber Court, our destination tomorrow night for a rescheduled London Senior Cup tie. Ayoub will be available for selection for his parent club for this game.

Richie Mbele was part of a Godalming Town side that travelled to our historic first opponents in the Combined Counties League, Sandhurst Town. On this occasion though, the young midfielder- along with former Dons Jordan Knight and Donte Lodge Francis – lost 2-1.
