AFC Wimbledon Under-18s will be aiming to build on a highly impressive away victory when Leyton Orient visit on Saturday.

Our young talents earned a 5-0 away win at Milton Keynes Dons last time out in the EFL Youth Alliance Under 18 South East Division.  A double from Zach Robinson led the way and the other goals came from Luke Jenkins, Dylan Adjei-Hersey, and Julian Sarmiento-Ramirez.

Though the hosts started well on Saturday, a superb team move involving Isaac Ogundere, Troy Chiabi, and Josh Hallard ended with a fine cross from the latter that was slotted home by Robinson for a 1-0 Wimbledon lead.

There was relief in Wimbledon ranks when a shot from the hosts rattled the crossbar, but the advantage was doubled through Robinson, who showed a ruthless edge with a clinical finish after pouncing on a defensive lapse. There was no let-up from Wimbledon after half-time and it was 3-0 through Ramirez, who finished well after good work by Chiabi. That was Chiabi’s final contribution to the game as he was replaced by Kwaku Frimpong. Two goals in quick succession followed to seal victory. A corner from Dylan Adjei-Hersey picked out Luke Jenkins and he headed home, before Adjei-Hersey rounded off the scoring with a fine fifth.

Under-18s manager Rob Tuvey said: “I’m delighted with the performance, especially our play without the ball. The lads showed a real intent and have again shown they can be a real threat when going forward, scoring some really good goals. It’s important we keep looking at ways of dominating the ball for longer spells, while still maintaining our attacking threat.”

AFC Wimbledon take on Leyton Orient on Saturday at the training ground (10.30 am kick-off).
